Four people were injured Friday in a stabbing at a shopping mall in Manchester, northwest England police say.
Counter-terrorism police are leading the investigation into the incident at Arndale shopping center, Greater Manchester Police said, which happened at around 11:15 a.m. local time (6:15 a.m. ET).
“At this stage we believe that four people were injured during the incident — not five as previously reported. We will update as the situation becomes clear,” police said in a statement.
Police said earlier that a 40-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of serious assault and that they were “keeping an open might about the motivation of this terrible incident and the circumstances.”
