Fatima Buhari, daughter of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, has revealed that her father’s signature was allegedly forged on official documents during his tenure

Fatima, a forensic auditor, said she examined some documents and showed her father examples of signatures falsely attributed to him. She added that others had similarly flagged concerns about forgeries of the president’s signature.
According to the book, Fatima noted that such forgery was not unique to Buhari’s administration, observing that previous governments had faced similar issues. She also highlighted instances where speeches and directives were altered after receiving presidential approval.
The biography recounts one occasion during a trip to the United States, where President Buhari spoke at a small conference. Fatima noticed that the text he was reading did not match the speech he had approved. “You were stopping,” she told him. He quietly responded that the text had been altered, but he proceeded to speak in his own words.
The book explains that such misrepresentations—directives being diluted, statements rephrased, or intentions subtly changed—were a recurring issue in the administration, sometimes due to bureaucratic inefficiency, and other times the work of a deliberate clique.
Fatima also shared that her father believed his official residence at the State House was wiretapped. The biography describes how they often communicated in writing rather than verbally to avoid being overheard. “A daughter and her father sit quietly together. He makes a small gesture, touching his cheek as if he has a toothache, and signals that they shouldn’t speak aloud. He believes ‘they’ have a listening device planted in his office,” the book notes.
