On an episode of Toke Moments, Beauty Tukura opened up about the challenges of dating in the public eye and her decision to keep future relationships private
Reflecting on her past relationship with Neo Akpofure, the reality star admitted that being in a public relationship felt overwhelming due to the involvement of family, fans, and social media scrutiny.
“When you have a public relationship, it’s like we are plenty in it—his family, my family, and then the whole world,” she said. Tukura highlighted the intense pressure from Big Brother Naija fans, explaining that their passionate nature often made things even more complicated. She noted that every move was closely watched, with people analyzing social media activity for clues about her relationship status.
Despite once embracing a public romance, Tukura has now had a change of heart. When asked if she would date publicly again, she responded with a firm “Honestly, no.” She explained that while she believes in privacy, she refuses to be a secret, adding, “Some men thrive on secrecy to cheat, living double or even triple lives.”
Tukura made it clear that she is done with public dating and is focused on something more meaningful. “Relationships drain women,” she said. “At this point, I’m just waiting for my husband. The next man I post will be my husband.”
She also shared her frustration with the early stages of dating, saying she now finds talking stages exhausting. “Don’t ask me my favorite color. Don’t ask me, ‘Babe, how are you?’—even that irritates me,” she admitted. She noted that after breakups, an influx of men often try to shoot their shot, which she finds tiring.
