Abia State Governor Alex Otti has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform the state’s power sector by making Abia fully independent from the national electricity grid.
Otti explained that his main goal is to disconnect the entire state from reliance on the National Grid, pursuing alternative energy solutions that will provide residents and businesses with a more reliable and sustainable power supply.
He revealed that his Commissioner for Power is currently in the Netherlands negotiating partnerships with private enterprises to support this initiative. The governor emphasized that, while the project is privately driven, the state government is fully backing it because of its potential benefits for all citizens.
“This initiative will ensure that Abia no longer suffers from national grid failures and will allow us to generate and manage our own electricity,” Otti said, highlighting the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and improved quality of life.
