Instagram influencer, Egungun of Lagos has addressed the backlash he faced after appearing flustered during an interview with US streamer IShowSpeed
IShowSpeed, who is on his 2026 African tour, arrived in Lagos on January 21 and has since met several celebrities as he enjoys his time in Nigeria before heading to another African country.
A clip that has gone viral shows Egungun struggling to maintain composure while interviewing the 21-year-old streamer.
During the exchange, Egungun asked: “Speed, how old are you?” to which IShowSpeed replied, “I’m 21.” Egungun then commented on his appearance, saying, “Jesus Christ, and you look so healthy and strong,” and awkwardly added, “When did you start this, woo woo, woo woo?” IShowSpeed appeared confused and responded, “You say what?”
The clip drew widespread criticism online, with many Nigerians questioning Egungun’s ability to conduct a coherent and engaging interview, noting that IShowSpeed looked visibly uninterested.
Reacting to the criticism in the comment section, Egungun asked Nigerians to be understanding of his hustle, explaining that he was under significant stress during the interview and had undergone a strict security check before meeting the streamer.
He wrote, “Abeg make Ona no vex for me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 na tension even before the interview securities wan kill me 🤣 please take it easy on me na hustle I Dey, don’t judge me 🙏🤣.”
