Actress Nancy Iheme has opened up about why she rejected a marriage proposal from a 40-year-old man, saying financial readiness and personal growth are essential for any serious relationship

Back in January, Nancy made headlines after bluntly telling a man during an Instagram Q&A, “You can’t afford me… Move to the next person.” The remark drew mixed reactions, with many accusing her of being overly materialistic.
In a recent interview, however, the actress clarified that her stance goes beyond money—it’s about recognizing red flags and refusing to settle.
“He had no house, no car, no investment,” she said. “And then you’re out here looking for someone above your level—are you not a criminal?”
She made it clear that she expects her partner to be well-established, stating, “You should aim higher in life. I’m looking for a man who’s doing better than me because I can already handle things on my own.”
Nancy also noted that age wasn’t the problem—it was the lack of preparation and ambition at that stage in life that turned her off.
Her comments have reignited debates on social media about relationship standards, with some praising her honesty and others accusing her of being overly demanding.
