A Federal High Court in Abuja issued Form 48, notifying Akpabio, the Clerk of the National Assembly, and Senator Neda Imasuem, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct, of their alleged disobedience to a court order.

The court had earlier granted an interim injunction restraining the Senate from proceeding with any investigation against Akpoti-Uduaghan pending the determination of a motion on notice for an interlocutory injunction.

Despite being served with the court order on March 5, 2025, the Senate proceeded with her suspension the following day, prompting the contempt charge. Form 48 serves as a formal notice warning that failure to comply with the court’s directive could lead to imprisonment.

This legal move intensifies the ongoing tensions between Akpoti-Uduaghan and the Senate leadership. Her suspension followed allegations of sexual harassment against Akpabio, though the Senate insists it was due to misconduct unrelated to the accusations.
