The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has confirmed that its official website has been compromised by unidentified hackers
In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, the bureau urged the public to ignore any information or reports attributed to it from unofficial sources until the website is fully restored.
The NBS assured citizens that its technical team is working diligently to resolve the issue. The statement read:
“This is to inform the public that the NBS website has been hacked, and we are working to recover it. Please disregard any message or report posted until the website is fully restored.”
A review of the website revealed signs of the breach, with a “Page Hacked” message displayed on the homepage. Further attempts to access the site resulted in an “Internal Server Error,” along with instructions for users to contact the server administrator at [email protected] for further details.
