The grid collapse occurred at 6:18 pm on Monday, October 14, 2024. Power generation dropped significantly, from 3.87 GW at 5 pm to 0.00 GW by 7 pm and 8 pm.

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) confirmed the collapse in a statement, informing its customers of a general system collapse that occurred at 18:48 hours.

This has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the EEDC network.

Consequently, all interface TCN stations are out of supply, and the company is unable to provide services to customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.

The Abuja Disco also reported the outage due to a national grid system failure at 6:58 pm. “Rest assured, we are working with relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilized,” the company stated.
