NDLEA arrests 22-year old corps member for allegedly importing drugged cookies from UK

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 22-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Arnold Maniru, for allegedly importing four kilogrammes of drugged cookies from the United Kingdom, spokesman Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Sunday.

Babafemi said the youth corps member serving with a government agency in Abuja was arrested on August 28 following the interception of a consignment at the warehouse of a transport company.

He said the cakes were laced with Arizona, a strong variant of cannabis and some liquid.

The agency’s spokesman also said operatives attached to courier companies in Lagos intercepted 1.2kg of cannabis concealed in locally-made cookies headed for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and 920grams of cocaine hidden in synthetic hair headed for Saudi Arabia.
