The Cross River Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Morrison Ogbonna, was found d3ad in his hotel room in Calabar early Thursday morning
Vanguard gathered that the commander was discovered by his officers, who had arrived to pick him up for a scheduled assignment.

An anonymous source said, “This is what happened this morning. Some officers went to the hotel where he was staying to pick him up, but when there was no response, they checked his room. After knocking without success, they alerted the hotel management, who opened the room and found him d3ad.”
The source added that Ogbonna had just been transferred to Cross River in August to replace Rachel Umebuali.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer SP Irene Ugbo-Obase confirmed his death, stating, “I can confirm to you that it is true, but what led to the death is something I can’t readily tell you.”
