Alexander Isak’s early goal proved decisive as Arsenal dropped points in their Premier League clash with Newcastle at St James’ Park

The Swedish forward struck with a header in the 12th minute after Arsenal failed to clear a cross from Anthony Gordon, who delivered a superb ball into the box.
Arsenal initially started strong but struggled to regain control after Isak’s goal, lacking creativity in attack. Mikel Arteta made adjustments in the second half to unlock Newcastle’s tight defense, but Arsenal managed only one shot on target throughout the match.
This win lifts Newcastle to eighth in the table, while Arsenal sit in third. They could fall as much as eight points behind leaders Manchester City if Pep Guardiola’s team beats Bournemouth later on Saturday.
