The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed its support for the families of late football legends Christian Chukwu and Peter Rufai, responding to criticisms from former Super Eagles defender Taribo West
In an official statement, the NFF affirmed that it stood in solidarity with the two icons, providing financial assistance and sending representatives to their funeral ceremonies.

For Christian Chukwu’s burial, the federation was represented by Executive Committee members Chief George Aluo, Barrister Okey Obi, and Mr. Chikelue Iloenyosi, while also offering financial support to his family.
Similarly, during Peter Rufai’s funeral mass in Lagos, the NFF extended financial assistance, with Executive Committee members Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi and Dr. Ademola Olajire in attendance.
The federation emphasized that these actions were in recognition of the immense contributions of Chukwu and Rufai to Nigerian football. It reiterated its commitment to honoring their legacies and providing continued support to their families.
“The Nigeria Football Federation honours their service, celebrates their legacy, and extends ongoing support to their families,” the statement concluded.
