The resolution followed a motion moved by Hon. Muhammad Sani Idris, representing Tafa Constituency, who raised alarm over the rising cases of unruly behaviour, misconduct, and immoral activities linked to such events.

Idris explained that the tradition of “signing out” — originally meant for graduating students to celebrate the completion of their studies — has increasingly been marred by troubling incidents that undermine efforts to nurture disciplined and well-rounded youths.

He stressed that what began as a harmless celebration has now been overshadowed by acts that pose moral and social concerns, prompting the need for urgent intervention.

The motion received unanimous backing from lawmakers, who agreed that public anxiety over the matter justified immediate action.

Presiding over the plenary, Deputy Speaker Hon. Afiniki Dauda assured that the Assembly would liaise with the governor and the State Ministry of Education to ensure swift implementation of the proposed ban.
