Political commentator Reno Omokri has said Nigerians should look at the facts rather than emotions when discussing the country’s security situation, arguing that Nigeria is safer today under President Bola Tinubu than it was eight years ago.
Omokri said security conversations are often driven by public perception and political sentiments, but insisted that available data paints a different picture.
According to him, while insecurity remains a challenge in some parts of the country, the overall situation has improved compared to what Nigerians experienced several years ago.
“When you focus on facts rather than emotions, the data shows that Nigeria is more secure under President Nigeria safer under Tinubu than eight years ago , and state police will further improve security”, he said.
Reno also threw his weight behind the push for state police, describing it as a practical step that could help tackle security challenges more effectively across the country.
He noted that security thr.eats differ from state to state and that local policing would allow authorities to respond more quickly and understand the unique challenges in their communities.
