Nigerians have reacted to CBN freezing accounts of atleaset 20 active participants of the now suspended #EndSARS protest, taking a swipe at the financial institution for knowing how to freeze bank accounts of ”innocent protesters” but can’t freeze that of politicians embezzling money.
The reactions came shortly after the news of the frozen accounts got online.
A famous online comedian, Mr Macaroni joined in the slamming saying;
”CBN knows how to freeze bank accounts of Nigerian Youths asking for a better Nigeria but cannot freeze the bank accounts of corrupt politicians embezzling funds meant to develop the country.Yeye dey smell!.”
CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, had allegedly filed a suit against 20 social media influencers requesting their bank accounts be withheld for a duration of 90 days until investigations are completed.
