Sule Lamido, former Jigawa State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, has said no right-thinking Northerner would vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election
Speaking at a meeting of the PDP expanded caucus in Dutse, Jigawa State, Lamido accused successive APC administrations of inflicting hardship, deceit, and betrayal on Nigerians through poverty, insecurity, and bad governance.

“We have been telling people Tinubu does not like the North, he doesn’t like anything that will help in developing the North. During his tenure as Governor of Lagos, Northerners were maltreated, attacked, and killed. In 2023, both the ACF, Ohanaeze, Afenifere, and other meaningful associations didn’t support Tinubu. He used money to influence his support and win the election. We warned people not to entrust him. They refused to listen and are now paying the consequences of their actions. It’s quite unfortunate for any Northerner to support Tinubu’s reelection bid despite the position he is holding, minister, governor, House of Representatives, among others. I don’t think a right-thinking person from the North will support Tinubu’s reelection bid again in the coming 2027 election.”
Lamido said Nigeria can only be rescued if citizens unite regardless of political, religious, or regional differences. He also expressed optimism that with ongoing developments in the PDP, the party will return to strength and do everything possible to save the country.
