No one can force me into retirement – 40-year old Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi says
Following calls on social media that 40-year-old Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi should retire from professional football, she has now replied her critics.
Replying the, the former Bayelsa Queens, Omidiran Babes and FC Minsk defender, said she can not be forced out of the game, and she will retire when she feels the time is right!
Ebi was part of the Super Falcons squad that participated at the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, making it her sixth appearance at the World Cup after making her debut in 2003.
She has also won four Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.; 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2018.
Speaking on Brila FM Thursday morning, October 19, Ebi said;
“When I’m done I would make that decision myself, nobody is going to talk me into retirement or make me stop playing.
It’s the game I love, it’s the game I enjoy so when I’m done, when I’m satisfied that I can no longer play I will call it a day, nobody can make me retire when I’m not ready.“
