Popular Fuji musician Alao Sefiu has shared a deeply personal story about his journey into Ifa worship and how it transformed his life and career.
According to the singer, the experience began years ago when his music career was struggling and show bookings were almost nonexistent. He explained that someone advised him to reconnect with his roots by seeking initiation into Ifa.
Recalling the unforgettable moment, Alao Sefiu revealed that his late mother, who was a devoted Muslim and an Eleha known for wearing Purdah, surprisingly became the person who introduced him to the spiritual path.
“I could remember that year l was initiated into IFA, infact it was my late mother that’ was a Muslim then and she was an Eleha that wears Purdah that took me to Baba1aw0 place, l was so scared initially,” he said.
The musician disclosed that he was shocked the following day when his mother removed her Purdah and personally accompanied him to consult Ifa.
“I was so surprised the following morning when my mother took off her Purdah and took me to consult ifa,” he added.
Speaking further, the singer explained that the atmosphere at the consultation ground changed his perspective completely after noticing that everyone freely went inside to discuss their hidden struggles and personal issues.
“I discovered when we got there everyone was going inside to discuss their secrets and Problems and l wasn’t stopped,” he stated.
Alao Sefiu maintained that his life and career witnessed a major turnaround after the initiation, noting that opportunities and recognition began to come his way afterward.
“Ever since then, my life has changed, my career started blossoming,” he said.
The Fuji star also shared his views about religion and cultural identity, stressing his belief that Ifa belongs to the Yoruba people and their heritage.
“I later discovered Muslim Religion is autually meant for Larubawa ,While Christianity is meant for English people and Ifa is meant for us the Yorubas, we are from ile ife not Larubawa,” he concluded.
