North Korea has reportedly begun executing citizens for watching or distributing foreign movies and TV shows, according to a new United Nations (UN) report
The report revealed that individuals have been publicly executed for consuming or sharing foreign media, including popular South Korean dramas.

The UN stated that these executions are meant to instill fear in the population and deter others from accessing outside information.
The findings are based on interviews with more than 300 witnesses and victims who fled North Korea and reported increased restrictions on freedom.
This report follows the landmark 2014 UN investigation, which concluded that North Korea had committed crimes against humanity.
The latest findings indicate that new laws now criminalize access to unauthorized foreign information and strictly prohibit its consumption or distribution.
