A nursery worker is on trial, accused of causing the de3th of a nine-month-old baby girl named Genevieve.
The court heard that Kate Roughley, the nursery worker, left Genevieve strapped face down on a bean bag for over 90 minutes, ignoring her cries and movements.
Prosecutors say Genevieve’s death was caused by asphyxia and stress from the unsafe sleeping conditions.
Roughley, with 17 years of experience, allegedly showed a lack of sympathy towards Genevieve and ignored obvious risks.
Despite the tragedy, Roughley denies manslaughter and child cruelty charges.
The trial continues as the court examines the events leading to Genevieve’s untimely death.
