Mustapha Sego, Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has dismissed claims that he threatened Lagos voters ahead of the 2027 elections
The DSS reportedly invited him over a viral video in which he spoke to union members about voting in the next election.

In the video, Sego, speaking in Yoruba, warned that past mistakes in 2023 would not be repeated in 2027 and emphasized support for the All Progressives Congress (APC). “Anybody who makes any mistakes in 2027 will be dealt with. Let them know that the APC is the party you’ll vote for, anybody who refuses to do so will meet us,” he said.
Sego, however, clarified that his comments were misinterpreted. In a follow-up video, he said he was summoned by the DSS but insisted the allegations were “false and baseless.” He stressed that his remarks were intended solely for union members and that he respects everyone’s right to freely choose their political affiliations.
The NURTW leader further suggested that the accusations were orchestrated by rival union members aiming to undermine his leadership and create instability within the Lagos chapter of the union.
“There is always opposition in any position of responsibility. This is clearly an attempt to destabilize me and the NURTW in Lagos,” Sego added.
