The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mustapha Adekunle, aka Sego, has narrowly escaped a suspected a$$assination attempt
The incident reportedly happened over the weekend. It was reported that armed g8nmen reportedly invaded his Surulere residence in the early hours of Sunday.
According to reports, the attackers, unaware that Sego was not at home at the time, forcefully gained entry into his residence and assaulted the security guard on duty before leaving upon learning that their target was absent.

An aide to the NURTW boss, who spoke with Nigerian Tribune on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident, saying, “It is true that some g8nmen invaded the chairman’s house between Saturday and Sunday. They forced their way into the building and overpowered the security man. After attacking him, they left when they were told the chairman was not around.”
The aide further explained that Sego was on the Island during the time of the attack, which may have thwarted the a$$ailants’ plans. “We were on the Island, but they thought that we were in Surulere,” he added.
He also revealed that the attackers left a chilling message for the security guard. “Before they eventually left, they tied the security man and took his picture with a threat that he should not tell the chairman anything or they would come back and k!ll him,” the aide disclosed.
