Mudashiru Obasa has been reinstated as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly

His return to the position was confirmed during Monday’s plenary session, following the resignation of Mojisola Meranda, who served as Speaker for 49 days. Obasa’s reinstatement was facilitated by a nomination from Noheem Adams, representing Eti-Osa I, and was seconded by Akinsanya Nureni.
Meranda, who stepped down earlier in the session, was praised by lawmakers for her leadership and legislative contributions. She described her resignation as a personal sacrifice to protect the integrity of the legislative institution.
Obasa’s reinstatement comes amid efforts to resolve the leadership crisis that has plagued the Assembly in recent weeks. His return is expected to restore stability and continuity to the House’s legislative activities.
