An Ogun State-based woman, Temitope Adetanju, has been taken into custody by operatives of the state police command for assaulting a 12-year-old girl over allegations of stealing biscuits and some edibles
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, in a telephone conversation with Punch Online on Friday, disclosed that the incident happened on Tuesday in the Isewo Obada Oko area of Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.
Odutola noted that the suspect, who was a guardian to the victim, had allegedly beaten the minor and inserted a piece of firewood in her private part.
She added that upon receiving the report of the assault, the Divisional Police Officer in the area swung into action and deployed the division’s juvenile officer to the scene of the incident.
The PPRO added that the suspect confessed to committing the crime and had been subjected to further investigation.
“The suspect admitted to committing the crime, and the investigation is ongoing,” she disclosed.
