Veteran actor Rasaq Olayiwola Olasunkanmi popularly known as Ojopagogo has shared a touching memory of late actor Ogogo, recalling how the actor helped him at a time when he could barely afford to pay for his services.
Ojopagogo, said the encounter happened in 1997 when he was working on his first movie, Baba No Go D!e, in Ibadan.
He said he contacted Ogogo and explained that he did not have enough money to pay him to appear in the movie. According to him, Ogogo asked him to come to Lagos anyway.
Speaking on a Podcast with Biola Adebayo, he said:
“I could remember Yr 1997 when I shot my first movie titled Baba No go di£ in ibadan and I never had enough money to feature Late Actor Ogogo and Abey Lanre
“The moment I called Ogogo, he said he was busy in Lagos state but if I could come down to Lagos and I explained to him that I don’t even have money to pay him, he said no problem I should just come
“I got to Lagos state and Ogogo shot above 3 scenes and he didn’t take shishi from me infact he was even the one that bought food for me and my late wife..
“And Ogogo was seriously reigning then infact It was his face I used in selling that my movie that year and it was that same movie that announced me to the world
Ogogo was such a nice person, very pleasant Man may his soul find rest”
The actor shared the story while paying tribute to Ogogo, remembering him not just for his popularity but for the kindness he showed him when he was still trying to find his feet in the industry.
