Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo has ordered all cabinet members to wear the “Asiwaju mandate cap” in support of President Bola Tinubu, warning that any defaulting members would face sanctions
He made the declaration during the swearing-in ceremony for commissioners and board members of state agencies and commissions in Benin City on Tuesday.

“I will not forgive any commissioner who is not wearing this cap,” Governor Okpebholo said. “In our Exco meetings, if you come without a suit and the Asiwaju cap, you will go back.”
The governor credited President Tinubu’s support for the All Progressives Congress’ victory in the state’s last governorship election. “This could not have happened if we did not have a responsible president. In previous elections, the major problem was the absence of presidential support. Today, we say thank you,” he stated.
Okpebholo emphasized that the commissioners’ appointments were based on merit, not patronage, and urged them to prioritize loyalty, integrity, and service to Edo State. “This administration came into office on the promise of practical governance to directly impact the lives of our people. Our focus is on service delivery and tangible results, not propaganda. Your appointments are not for personal enrichment but for sacrifice and service to improve the lives of Edo people. Your success will be measured by your impact,” he said.
The newly sworn-in commissioners are Vincent Osas Uwadia, Etin-osa Ogbeiwi, Saturday Uwuilekhue Idehen (JP), Charity Amayaenvbo, Nosa Adams, Yakubu Oshiorenua, Felix Akhabue, Omorodion Ignatius, Ohimai Ehijimetor, Eugenia Abdallah, Godwin Afekokhe Eshieshi, Kassim Afegbua, Jerry Uwangue, John Akhigbe, Festus Ebea, Elizabeth Ebosele, Kenneth Okoruwa Ihensekhien, and Usenbo Paul Ehigie.
