One d3ad, Three injured as building collapse in Mushin

One person has been confirmed d3ad and three others injured after a one-storey building under construction collapsed in the Mushin area of Lagos State

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at 96 Ishaga Road, directly opposite the Idi Araba Central Mosque. According to the South-West Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, the victim’s body was recovered around 8:18 p.m.

A statement by the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said a distress call was received at about 3:30 p.m. Emergency responders swiftly moved to the scene, where three adult males were rescued with various degrees of injuries. They received on-site treatment before being taken to a hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

Agencies that responded to the incident included the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (Isolo Fire Station), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, the Nigeria Police, and LASAMBUS.

Search and rescue efforts are still ongoing as authorities continue to comb the site for any other victims. The cause of the collapse remains unknown, with investigations currently underway.

This latest tragedy comes less than a month after a three-storey building collapsed on Oremeta Street in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos, killing one person and injuring several others. In that incident, which occurred on April 19, 13 people were rescued from the rubble. The structure had been under construction and reportedly housed a local restaurant. A resident said the collapse happened shortly after restaurant staff arrived for the day.
