One dead, eight infected as FCTA records outbreak of Diphtheria
One person has died due to the outbreak of Diphtheria disease in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), it was learnt yesterday.
Worried by the development, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has raised alarm, urging residents to take precautions to avoid more deaths.
Diphtheria is said to be a serious infection caused by strains, which can lead to difficulty in breathing, heart rhythm problems, and even death.
The Director, FCT Public Health Department, Dr. Sadiq Abdulrahman, who briefed reporters on the incident said already results of samples taken from suspected cases in a village close to Dei-Dei have established the outbreak.
