South Africa’s constitutional court has dismissed a bid by the paralympian Oscar Pistorius to appeal against his 13-year murder sentence.
Pretoria’s High Court had sentenced the athlete to six years in prison in 2016, but this was increased to 13 years and five months last year. It was this final decision that Pistorius wanted to contest.
He stands charged with the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013. Pistorius continues to maintain his innocence.
