The sitting governor, Rauf Aregbesola who was said to have
gone to Mecca for the lesser hajj but cut short his trip and
returned to honour the debate, and was the only candidate seated. So the debate turned out to be a form of interview.

The media aide of the LP candidate, Mr. Kayode Oladeji, when
contacted said that his principal did not shun the debate because he sent his
running mate to represent him, when he had a very urgent and equally
important assignment he had to attend to. His running mate was however not allowed to represent him, as no representative was welcomed.
