The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has revealed that its website crashed three times last week due to a massive influx of Nigerians seeking to register as members online

Ibrahim Mani, Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), made the disclosure during an interview on Channels Television on Monday. According to him, the party was forced to re-host its website multiple times after it became overwhelmed by the spike in traffic.
“We had to host our website on three different occasions within the last week because it kept crashing due to the influx of people wanting to register online as members of the party,” Mani said.
The surge followed the ADC’s recent unveiling as the new political platform for Nigeria’s opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party has since attracted several high-profile opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Senate President David Mark, and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
Mani reaffirmed the ADC’s commitment to building a credible and inclusive opposition, noting that the party is open to all Nigerians who meet constitutional requirements and have no criminal convictions.
“A political party is an all-comers affair. People who have not been convicted by a competent court of law are constitutionally free to join and contest under any party platform,” he said.
He added that the party is working to restore its digital infrastructure while ramping up offline mobilisation efforts nationwide.
According to Mani, the overwhelming interest in the ADC reflects Nigerians’ growing demand for an alternative political force amid deepening economic challenges.
“It’s better to build a party with people who believe in credible opposition than allow Nigeria to slide into a one-party state,” he added.
The ADC says it aims to position itself as a strong grassroots-driven alternative to the country’s dominant political parties.
