The Niger State Government on Wednesday said over 100 persons had died of cholera outbreak in the 25 local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner for Health and Hospital Services, Dr Mohammed MakunSidi, in an interview with journalists at the ongoing training workshop for journalists by Pathfinder International in Minna, the state capital, said, “Over 100 persons have died from the outbreak of cholera across the 25 local government areas from April to date in Niger State.”

MakunSidi lamented the rate of open deification and waste disposal attitude of state residents, especially in the rural areas, saying such were responsible for the annual menace.

While cautioning the people, the commissioner advised those infected to seek medical treatment from the public health centres in their communities.
