Content creator, Papaya Ex, has accused a police officer of attacking her during a late-night stop in the Ajah axis of Lagos.
She went public with the allegation during an emotional TikTok live session on Friday, claiming the incident happened while she was heading home after a film shoot. According to her account, what initially appeared to be a cordial interaction at a checkpoint suddenly escalated into violence.
Papaya Ex alleged that the officer struck her across the face with a firearm and also assaulted her driver. She further claimed the officer engaged in inappropriate touching during the confrontation.
Though the alleged moment of assault was not recorded, she explained during the livestream that poor network connectivity prevented the video from capturing everything. However, she showed viewers what looked like injuries on her face, including a visible mark.
The influencer also accused the officer of slapping her, hitting her buttocks and breasts, and forcefully seizing her mobile phone amid the altercation.
Clips that later surfaced online captured a tense verbal exchange, with an officer’s voice audible as both sides argued heatedly. The complete circumstances surrounding the encounter, as well as the accuracy of the allegations, could not be independently confirmed at the time of this report.
Clearly shaken in the circulating videos, Papaya Ex maintained that police harassment is frequent in the Ajah area, describing it as a pattern residents often face.
Her claims have since generated widespread reactions across social media platforms, with many users demanding a thorough investigation into the matter.
The Lagos State Police Command has yet to release an official statement addressing the allegations.
