Internet personality, PapayaEx has broken silence over allegations involving her and a videographer identified as Emma, following a heated dispute linked to claims about a missing phone, unpaid wages, and financial misconduct involving his sister who previously worked as her personal assistant.
The controversy began after Emma posted a video accusing Papaya Ex of taking his phone during a confrontation. He also alleged that her mother assaulted him with a shovel, an incident he claimed resulted in a dislocated arm.
Emma explained that his 19-year-old sister had worked closely with the influencer as a PA for about a month before issues arose during a movie premiere, where she reportedly misplaced Papaya’s iPhone 16 Pro Max. He further claimed that after the incident, his sister was not paid her ₦120,000 monthly salary for three months and was also accused of spending ₦270,000 belonging to Papaya Ex.
According to him, efforts to resolve the matter on his sister’s behalf turned unpleasant, alleging that he was humiliated and forced to strip to his boxers while pleading. He added that Papaya Ex later collected his phone, saying he now fears for his safety and is seeking help.
As the story gained traction online, Papaya Ex responded with her own account, stating that Emma’s sister earned a total package of about ₦300,000 monthly and was also entrusted with handling some of her finances. She alleged that funds taken from her included an initial ₦200,000 which she claimed was used for Emma.
Papaya Ex admitted taking Emma’s phone but said it was because he allegedly threatened to abscond instead of standing as guarantor for his sister at the police station.
She further alleged that the total amount involved in the financial dispute rose to about ₦560,000, while also accusing the former PA of mishandling funds and being involved in the loss and purchase of high-end devices including iPhones.
A recorded phone call circulating online also showed Emma stating that his sister did not steal money but merely “spent” funds that were not hers.
Papaya Ex expressed disappointment over the situation, insisting she had shown kindness to the young woman, providing allowances and support beyond salary, and maintained that she does not deserve the backlash surrounding the controversy.
