Chris Okafor, the founder of Grace Nation International church, also known as Liberation City, has announced a temporary step down from pulpit duties
The move comes amid public calls for him to relinquish his pastoral role following a relationship controversy involving actress Doris Ogala, though it remains unclear whether the decision is directly linked to the scandal.

During the New Year service on Thursday, Okafor said four pastors from his church would lead services throughout January 2026.
“We have four Sundays in January, so during these Sundays, Pastors Sylvester, Kelvin, Oliver, and Shadrach will minister and anoint you each week because it’s going to be prophetic Sundays. While they are here, I will be resting. It’s a time for a personal retreat with God and for my wife and me to rest, because since our wedding, we haven’t had time to rest or even have a honeymoon,” he said.
Doris Ogala had accused the pastor of making marriage promises and engaging in s3xual relationship with her, immediately after the pastor engaged his partner.
Amid the scandal, Okafor married his new wife in another church after Ogala reportedly threatened to disrupt the ceremony.
