Celeste Arantes, the mother of Brazilian football legend Pelé, has passed away at the age of 101
Her family confirmed her d3ath in a statement, marking the end of an era for the iconic footballer’s family.
Pelé’s eldest son, Edinho, paid tribute to his grandmother on social media, sharing a heartfelt photo and message.
Celeste Arantes gave birth to Pelé at just 17 years old and was married to his father, Joao Ramos do Nascimento, at 16.
She had another son, Jair, who sadly passed away in 2020.
Despite her cognitive difficulties, Pelé honored his mother on her 100th birthday, celebrating her teachings of love and peace.
