The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called for transparency regarding the new presidential jet, emphasizing that Nigerians have the right to know its cost, age, and operational history
In a series of posts on his official X handle, Obi stated that taxpayers deserve to be informed about the jet’s purchase price, its age, and how long it has been in operation.
Additionally, Obi demanded clarity on the disposal of old jets, including their number, age, and reasons for sale.
He stressed that transparency and accountability are essential hallmarks of genuine leadership, and the Federal Government should provide adequate information about its actions to the people.
Obi highlighted the significance of the presidential jet as a symbol of national sovereignty and state power, making its cost and maintenance a matter of public accountability.
He urged the government to provide full disclosure on the new presidential jet, warning that failure to do so would erode respect for the leadership.
