Political analyst Isaac Fayose has urged Peter Obi to return back PDP to contest for 2027 Election after Atiku Abubakar’s exit from the party
Atiku, who served as Nigeria’s vice president, formally announced his resignation from the PDP on Wednesday. This marks the third time he has parted ways with the party in the last 20 years.
Fayose, in his reaction, expressed relief and enthusiasm over Atiku’s decision, emphasizing that it offers the PDP a fresh opportunity to restructure and move forward. He also urged Peter Obi to consider returning to the party and take another shot at the presidency.
“Good news, Atiku has finally resigned from PDP. I’ve been trying to suspend him for years but it never worked. Finally, Baba don go. Third time in 20 years — that’s desperation,” he said.
He continued: “For PDP, the largest party in Africa, this is a welcome development. Southerners will no longer have to fight over their rightful turn. This is good news; the party can now enjoy peace. Baba has come and gone so many times, hopefully this time for good. Mr. Atiku, you can now let the PDP become the true opposition it should be.”
Criticizing Atiku’s persistent ambitions, Fayose added, “His ambition has crippled the party for too long. I don’t know if he left something behind in the villa. It’s a shame to keep switching in and out of PDP like that.”
He concluded by encouraging Peter Obi to return: “I hope Obi can come back to PDP now. They have the structure. I hope he can come back now!”
