Peter Obi has spoken about the alleged a.ttack on his convoy in Calabar, Cross River State, describing how his security team reacted after reports that some APC supporters were throwing stones and carrying machetes.
According to Obi, his security personnel told him they had found another route after the situation became tense. He said he wanted to go down and record what was happening when he heard about the incident.
Recalling the encounter, at a political gathering in Calabar, Cross River State, he said:
“They said APC people were throwing stones and people were running back, and my security people said, ‘We’ve found another way.’
“They had machetes and the rest. I said, ‘In Nigeria? I’m coming down to video everything.”
By the time they saw what was happening, they left. All these things happen because Nigerians allow it, but we are not going to allow it in 2027.”
