Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate, has demanded an apology and retraction from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the President, regarding the allegation linking him to the planned nationwide protest in August
Through his lawyer, Chief Alex Ejesieme, Obi claims the widely published accusation damaged his reputation by portraying him as a proponent of violence.
As learnt on AIT news, Bayo Onanuga had stated on July 20, 2024, that Obi’s supporters were planning mayhem and that Obi should be held responsible for anarchy.
Obi’s counsel has given Onanuga 72 hours to issue an unreserved apology in at least four national dailies, citing the harm caused by the allegation and the outpouring of support from well-wishers worldwide.
