Popular Nigerian photographer and biker Orowole Kolapoz, popularly known as Kola Onifoto, has lost his life following a solo motorcycle accident in Lagos
The 32-year-old creative, known for his love of travel and influence in lifestyle circles, reportedly crashed on Sunday during what he had described as his first independent biking trip beyond Lagos.
Before setting out, he shared his excitement on Facebook, revealing he was heading to Akure and applauding experienced riders who have toured different parts of Nigeria and even crossed international borders.
“Big shout out to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa, and across the world, especially women. My eye see wheeen,” he wrote.
After the crash, acquaintances disclosed that he was first rushed to a Federal Road Safety Corps emergency post in Ojota before being transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where many continued to pray and hope for his survival.
Sadly, he passed away in the early hours of Monday, March 2, due to injuries sustained in the accident.
His death has since sparked an outpouring of grief online, with friends, colleagues and admirers remembering him as adventurous, driven and deeply passionate about his craft and biking journey.
Details surrounding the exact cause of the accident remain unclear. In January, Kolapoz had celebrated achieving a personal milestone, proudly announcing his move into biking and sharing photos of himself alongside his motorcycle.
Attempts to get a response from the Lagos Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps were unsuccessful, as calls and a message sent to its spokesperson were not answered as of press time.
