Vice President, Kashim Shettima and the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila have arrived London to bring the body of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari home

Acting on President Tinubu’s directive, Shettima touched down in the United Kingdom on Monday, July 14, alongside Femi Gbajabiamila.
Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum.

President Tinubu, in his official announcement on Sunday, confirmed Buhari’s passing in a London hospital, where the former president had been receiving treatment for a prolonged illness. Tinubu directed Shettima to oversee arrangements for Buhari’s return and burial.
As part of national mourning, the President also ordered that Nigerian flags be flown at half-staff nationwide for seven days.

Buhari, who led Nigeria as a military ruler from 1984 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, was 82.
