The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended Dauda Sa’idu, a 21-year-old scavenger, for allegedly desecrating graves and stealing iron rods from a Christian cemetery in Yelwan Kagadama, Bauchi

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakili, Dauda was arrested on September 20, 2024, for trespassing, vandalism, and theft.
During interrogation, Dauda confessed to damaging multiple graves, extracting iron rods, and selling them to scrap metal buyers for N9,500, N12,000, and N5,500.
He admitted to using the proceeds to purchase Indian hemp and food items.
The Police Commissioner, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, has directed that Dauda be prosecuted upon completion of the investigation.
This incident underscores the importance of parental supervision and community vigilance.
The commissioner urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s activities to prevent such incidents.
Dauda’s actions may lead to him spending Christmas in custody as he faces prosecution for his crimes.
