Human rights activist Israel Joe, who revealed the incident on social media, claimed the victim contacted the content creator after seeing his online advertisements offering mentorship to aspiring digital creators.

According to Joe, the young woman later met the suspect at a hotel in Asaba, where she had gone for the promised training.

The activist alleged that despite informing the suspect through WhatsApp messages that she was a virgin and had no interest in a romantic relationship, she was se.xually assaulted.

Joe said the victim later informed her twin sister and mother about the incident before returning home.

He further alleged that she initially sought justice through another activist but was discouraged from pursuing the case because of the suspect’s alleged influence.

According to the activist, the emotional trauma from the incident eventually led the young woman to take her own life by ingesting a poisonous substance.

Joe also claimed he reported the matter to the police, leading to the suspect’s arrest, and alleged that investigators confronted him with WhatsApp conversations exchanged with the deceased.

The case has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians demanding justice for the deceased and a thorough investigation.

The Delta State Police Command said investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the allegations and the victim’s de.ath.
