In Abuja, police fired teargas at protesters gathered near the federal secretariat today, August 1, 2024, as part of a nationwide hunger protest

The demonstrations, dubbed “10 days of rage,” aim to address economic hardship, soaring inflation, and other grievances.
Despite a court order restricting protests to the MKO Abiola stadium, some protesters defied the ruling and converged near the federal secretariat.
The court order was obtained by Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory, in an effort to limit the scope of the demonstrations.
The #EndBadGovernance protests demand decisive action from the government to address economic hardship, inflation, and police brutality. A heavy police presence is visible across the nation as the protest gains momentum.
The planned protest is scheduled to continue for 10 days, from August 1 to 10. However, the outcome of today’s incident may impact the future of the demonstrations
