Renowned Nigerian evangelist and spiritual leader, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has d!ed at age 80
His family confirmed on Monday that he passed away on October 6, 2025, describing his death as a “glorious transition” from a life of devoted service to eternal rest.

Ukpai, widely regarded as a spiritual general and a founding father of faith in Nigeria, spent over six decades dedicated to evangelism, teaching the Word, and demonstrating prophetic acts of God’s power. His ministry impacted millions both in Nigeria and abroad, shaping spiritual growth and nurturing generations of believers.
“He was a faithful soldier of the cross who devoted his life to spreading the gospel with passion and integrity. His teachings, prophetic insights, and mentorship have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire believers for years to come,” his family said.
Known for his fiery evangelistic campaigns, transformative teachings, and commitment to empowering both clergy and lay leaders, Ukpai was also celebrated as a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to countless individuals who sought his guidance in faith and life.
The family expressed gratitude for his life and ministry, noting that while they mourn his physical absence, they rejoice that he “finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.” Funeral arrangements will be shared in due course.
Over six decades, Ukpai built a lasting spiritual and social legacy, including churches, educational programs, and humanitarian initiatives that continue to influence communities worldwide. His life, the family said, reflected the biblical truth: “To live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).
