The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said if it wasn’t for prayers, Nigerian would have been in far worse situation

Speaking during the RCCG monthly Thanksgiving service on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the church’s headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Adeboye addressed those who question the impact of continuous intercession.
“Some people say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting – where is the result?’ I laugh,” he said. “If we had not been praying, Nigeria would have been in a far worse situation. Let’s not stop.”
The revered cleric stressed that divine intervention is still at work in the country and warned that even a brief pause in prayer could have devastating consequences.
“There is a God who rules in the affairs of men,” Adeboye added. “If those praying should stop for just one week, what will happen will be terrible. Keep praying – God controls the hearts of kings.”
Preaching on the theme Shadow of the Almighty, Pastor Adeboye shared testimonies of God’s protection over RCCG buildings and members. He recounted how church properties were spared during natural and man-made disasters, including a flood in the U.S. and a fire outbreak at Otedola Bridge in Lagos.
He reminded worshippers that the true source of protection and safety is not physical security but God’s covering.
“Your safety is in God,” he said. “His protection may not always be visible, but it is real. Whether you’re young or old, in peace or in crisis, the Almighty watches over His own.”
Earlier in the service, Pastor Folu Adeboye led prayers for the peace of Nigeria and for wisdom for the nation’s leaders.
