President Bola Tinubu on Monday welcomed Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, to the Presidential Villa in Abuja
The Duke is visiting Nigeria to lead a series of events in Lagos from November 17 to 23 aimed at promoting the global expansion of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

The award provides a non-formal education and development framework designed to help young people discover their purpose, passion, and place in the world.
The week-long programme will bring together nearly 200 young participants from over 50 countries, alongside hundreds of award leaders, policymakers, and representatives from international youth movements.

The attendees will engage in a three-day intensive youth leadership programme, followed by the award’s triennial forum focused on broadening global access.
During his visit to President Tinubu, the Duke was accompanied by Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, and other officials. Nigerian representatives included Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
