Prince Harry sparked online criticism after wearing his own Army medals while presenting an award to US combat medic Sergeant First Class Elizabeth Marks in California.
The Duke of Sussex hailed Marks as a “friend” and an “inspiration” during the ceremony.
Sergeant Marks, who enlisted in the US Army at 17 and suffered injuries in Iraq, received the Soldier of the Year award from Harry. However, some online users questioned why an American veteran didn’t present the award.
Critics dubbed Harry’s video “embarrassing” and his medals “ridiculous,” suggesting they were for attention-seeking. Despite the backlash, others defended Harry, noting the significance of his medals, including ones commemorating the late Queen’s jubilees and his service in the Army.
In other news, King Charles’ battle against cancer shows progress, with plans for his return to public duties, including Trooping the Colour. Despite this positive development, he will continue treatment for the illness.
